Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI), Pune is a non-profit company established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, on June 25, 2018, under the aegis of the Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra. The institute was founded with the objective of promoting the social, economic, and educational development of the targeted communities in Maharashtra, namely the Maratha, Kunbi, Maratha-Kunbi, and Kunbi-Maratha groups.

SARTHI was established with the intent to carry out various surveys and action-oriented research to plan and implement diverse programs aimed at improving the social, educational, and economic conditions of these communities. Considering the vision behind its inception, SARTHI functions as a "pinnacle institution" dedicated to conducting research, gathering data, and performing analysis to support the advancement of the targeted groups.

The institute also undertakes awareness campaigns and implements innovative and model projects from time to time to address various issues faced by the target communities.

As per the approval received from the Registrar of Companies, the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI), Pune, has eight ex-officio members.
